If you've stumbled upon this article, there's a very high chance that you're in one of two camps.
The first possibility is that you have a big night of drinking alcohol ahead of you. Maybe you've been hungover in the past and prayed to all that is holy that you never experience it again.
Now you've got another special occasion ahead of you that calls for a couple cocktails, and you're dreading the morning after.
If you find yourself in this group, good news! You're one of the lucky ones. You can still prevent yourself waking up with your head pounding like an 808 drum.
However, there's inevitably a group of people reading this on the morning after a massive night, firmly in the depths of hangover-city. Unfortunately for you, that's an article for another day.
But for those who's lips are still yet to touch their first drink of the night, read on. You just might save yourself a day of pain and existential regret tomorrow.
As a disclaimer, it goes without saying that you should know your limits when drinking. If you don't get drunk, then you won't get hungover. However, we understand more than anyone that sometimes a special occasion may call for more alcoholic drinks than usual. This article is for people in that situation.
Drink water.
You've probably been told this a thousand times and never listened, but there's a reason this is the number one way to prevent a hangover.
Because hangovers are caused by dehydration. Simple as that.
The best way to prevent a hangover is by fitting in a cup of water between each drink.
Yes, you will be hitting the bathroom pretty often, but if you ask us, it's a price worth paying to avoid spending a day in bed with a migraine that feels like Shaquille O'Neal stepped on your head.
Stick to the same type of alcohol.
Spending the night mixing every type of alcoholic beverage under the sun, does not end well. You can't be drinking cruisers, whisky, different cocktails, beer and God knows what else, and expect to be fine the next day. Of course it's nice to dabble and try different cocktails when they're available, but we strongly recommend making a solid attempt to stick to one or two types of alcohol throughout the night. For example, if you're keen on trying a few cocktails and mixing it up, try to stick to vodka based cocktails, if that's what you're into.
Hire a mobile bartender.
If you're partying at yours or a friends' place, consider hiring a fun, licensed and experienced cocktail bartender to serve drinks to you and your crew. How does this help a hangover you ask? If you hire a great bartender or mixologist, they will actively help you avoid hangovers throughout the night by encouraging you to drink water after you've had a few beverages. If they really know their stuff they'll give you a few pointers such as sticking to similar drinks throughout the night as we discussed above, and more bits of wisdom here and there. They'll also stick to their local alcohol service rules to ensure you have a great time, but also don't become extremely intoxicated. Which also helps when trying to avoid the dreaded hangovers.
There's plenty of other benefits of having a mobile bar for a private event, such as streamlined service of drinks, entertainment and ice-breaking for guests. Did we mention you get delicious cocktails served in the privacy of your own place? If you're based in Sydney, Australia, GOOD NEWS! You can hire us to serve at your next event. Enquire Here.
