Five things to consider when hiring mobile bartenders in Sydney

Hiring mobile bartenders is exciting not only for the party planner, but for all of the guests attending your event. It's an awesome way to enhance the atmosphere, break the ice between guests, and create a unique experience.

However, there are a lot of things to consider, especially in an industry with such a low barrier to entry. Anybody can wake up one day and decide to call themselves a mobile bartender.

Make sure the company is licensed and has insurance.

In Australia, it is a legal requirement that all bartenders have a Responsible Service of Alcohol certificate (RSA).

This is important not only because it is legally required, but because as part of receiving their RSA, bartenders will need to complete a stringent course on serving alcohol responsibly. This covers managing intoxication levels, appropriate serving procedures and all of the rules and regulations involved.

Check their reviews.

A good way to get an idea of a bartending company's past performance is to check their Google reviews. You'll be able to see what their past customers thought of their service and if they're known for doing a good job.

You'll want to aim to go with a business that has at least 50-100 Google reviews rated 5 stars, otherwise their track record is less reliable. These companies may be higher in price, but when you're inviting someone into your home or venue with the hope they will give your guests a memorable experience, it's definitely worth forking out a little more cash to ensure your event goes smoothly.

Make sure they don't water down the drinks.

This relates to companies who provide alcohol and ingredients with the bartending service. Many of these businesses bring the alcohol in their own, unmarked bottles as opposed to unopened, branded bottles that you would see at Dan Murphys for example. Be very cautious of this, because this is an indicator that the drinks have been tampered with and perhaps watered down. When puchasing alcohol through a bartender hire company, make sure to ask them whether their drinks arrived unopened in fresh bottles. If not, definitely reconsider your choice.

Make sure the company can handle last minute bartender pull-outs.

It is a common thing that bartenders pull out of events last minute. Especially mobile bartenders, because chances are, this isn't their full time job. There's not much to lose for them in this situation by pulling out on the day of the event.

If you find a company who is larger, and has the capacity to sort out last minute replacements so you aren't left out to dry, they tend to be much more reliable. There are a select few companies in Sydney who have guarantees in place that your event will be catered to. Definitely opt for one of these if possible.

Make sure they are strict with their hiring process.

If you're going to welcome a mobile bartender into your home, you want to make sure they're trustworthy, reliable and most importantly a good person.

And a bonus: you want to make sure they're a fun, outgoing, bubbly person too.

These type of pople naturally make great bartenders because they will be able to engage your guests in conversation, while at the same time serving up delicious cocktails!
